Okay so this is an email i received from my mom. i thought it was something that everyone should know. its scary because just recently there have been alot incidents like this in near areas. My parents live in a really nice area in N ogden. Its one of those older neighbor hoods where nobody locks their house up,and nobody sets any alarms..everyone knows each other, (mainly because you all go to church together)you cant check ur mail without seeing a neighbor in their yard and stopping to talk. Ive always liked it,but the night before my wedding i spent the night at my moms. When i woke up the next morning my car and my dads car had both been broken into..my wallet was gone and my dad was missing a few things. It was scary..then just this past week a neighbor who actually lives 3 houses away(..3!!)had left her house to go pick up her kids in south ogden she was gone about 1 hour. when she returned home and opened the garage she noticed that the door leading from the house to the garage was open. she felt this was wrong..she left her kids in the car and walked into the house..the fridge was open, she walked into the front room and saw her front door had been kicked open. she ran out of there jumped into the car and drove away,FAST! she called 911. Just in the one hour she was gone someoen broke into her house stole tvs, jewlery, valuables. The police said that they were interuped because they didnt get to certain bedrooms..they might have been interuped by her walking into the house. SCARY! Middle of the day..nobody saw anything! Now everyone in the neighbor hood locks up all the time! keeps their cars in the garage and sets alarms..my parents set theirs everyday! Be careful..this world isn't what is use to be. anyways..after hearing that story my mom sent me this email..Please Read.
This happened Friday night at the house of a lady in my parents' ward. My parents live right here in good ol' Draper, UTAH ! Please forward this on & be careful!

As I am sure you can figure out the guy on the porch was a decoy - hoping they would come out to help so he could get in.
Terrie,
I never had a chance to talk to you on Saturday. The police asked me to let everyone know what happened to us on Friday night, so people can be prepared:
It was about 10:30pm on Friday night. I was reading in bed and Chuck was getting ready to do the same when someone pounded on our front door, rang the bell and ran away. Chuck went downstairs, looked thru the sidelights and called out: 'You are not going to believe this, Denise. There is a man tied up on our front steps!'
I told him not to open the door as I was going to call 911. As I did, I could see the man from upstairs. He was wearing black, small shorts, nothing else. He had a white mask on so we could not see his face, and his wrists were tied to his ankles with duct tape. He started: 'Help, somebody help me' but we did nothing. The police was on their way. As I was talking with the 911 dispatcher, I saw the man first pull his right hand away from the duct tape, then his left hand, and then he pulled the duct tape away from his ankles and ran away!
The police patrolled our neighborhood all night long, but could not find anyone, or the mask and ring of duct tape. He told us to tell everyone not to open the door, ever, even if someone is bleeding at our door steps. Had we opened the door, other people may have gotten inside our house, since it was obvious that someone other than the masked man rang our bell and knocked on the door.
It was very difficult to fall asleep that night. We need to be sure our doors are locked early in the evening, and not when we are about to go to bed, and that our alarms are always turned on.
That's the story. Thanks for passing it on.

My sister Taleese had her house broken into something like 3 times when she lived in Ogden. It got so bad that neither she nor her roommates ever left the house unless someone could be home to house-sit. The one night they decided to take a chance and break their vigilance was the third time they were robbed, so obviously someone was in the neighborhood monitoring them every day. At that point my sister finally moved out.
By the way, Toni- if you'd like to access my photos online from my blog, send me an email and I'll hook you up: jamie@5tein.com
it is true we are so trusting to.
